POLICIES******
1. RESPECT EVERYONE
2. COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY AND IN A TIMELY MANNER
3. COME TO CLASS - don't cut, don't sleep in and come in late if you have class, and please ask your parents to plan vacations outside of class time. Be selective in days you will not be in class, especially with the block schedule! Missing class now will be more like missing two days of class under the old schedule.
4. ASK QUESTIONS if you have them :)
5. Believe and be positive!!!!
6. Leave the phone alone. A strict phone policy will be explained and enforced in class. Parents, please be advised that if your child violates the phone policy, his/her phone may be kept by Ms. Miller for the school day. Please avoid texting your child during class.
SPECIFICALLY:
* If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get missed work . Handouts can be found in the "WERE YOU OUT?" box near the door. You have at most 2 days to make up work from missed classes due to APPROVED ABSENCES. If you have an UNEXCUSED ABSENCE, you may not make up the work for credit.
* If you miss an assessment due to an excused absence, you have two days for each day you are absent to make it up on your own time. If you miss an assessment due to an UNEXCUSED ABSENCE, you may receive a ZERO on that assessment. Therefore, if you skip class and there is a test, you get a zero :(. We don't want that!
* If you know you are going to miss class you are responsible for getting the work BEFOREHAND! This will help you keep up with class! Otherwise it will be very hard for you to join in when you return.
Extra help is available with Ms. Miller. Extra help is always available from the math tutor, Mrs. Wagner, during the school day - go see her! Wednesdays are required meeting days for teachers, therefore it is often impossible to offer help after school on Wednesdays. If you would like to schedule a time to meet before or after school, please email or ask Ms. Miller!
Ms. Miller will give you all the strategies you need to succeed! The rest is up to you. Work hard, use the strategies, come to class, and communicate, and you will have a great year!
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!
In a world where you can be anything, be kind :)
